I have been for a walk. Quite a long walk, in fact, following Offa’s Dyke, which runs for 177 miles along the Wales-England border and crosses 700 stiles and 12 million cowpats. Quite why Offa felt the need to knock up such a mammoth boundary is lost in time, but I suspect he had a large garden and wanted to keep the sheep out.
