Look, this is not my fault. Before you accuse me of stirring up tribal warfare, understand this: he started it. It is true that I have, on occasion, taken a gentle swing at the medical profession for – let’s see – its arrogance, its predilection for bow-ties and its tendency to think that God created doctors before getting round to lesser beings. But I like harmony and am prepared to admit that medics have their uses, especially if your leg is hanging off or you are having an inconvenient heart attack.
