I learn some interesting things: one million patients pass through primary care each day; nine million people have chronic, life- threatening conditions; a quarter of us will be grossly overweight by 2010; cancer and heart disease kill 250,000 a year. I down my pint, polish off the crisps and wonder whether being healthy is now a minority sport.
