This is technical so stick with me. I have been broadbanded, which means, in essence, that I can waste time much quicker. It involves asking a nice man at the telephone exchange to poke a long piece of wire down the cable leading to my house and wiggle it about to make the cable – or ‘band’ – broader. Hence, broadband. With me? As a result, I can connect to the internet at the speed of light, whereas in the dark days of dial-up I could wallpaper a large room while I waited for my favourites to upload.
