Reflective practice is best done by ignoring the media

As silly seasons go, the one about to end has been pretty serious. The media's summer months usually pass in a torpor, with only the occasional 'Pup ate my winning lottery ticket' story to fill the first three pages. But this year has been different, with a deluge of heavyweight headlines: Concorde crashes; submarine sinks; India flooded; and, gripping but less grave, Big Brother Nick gets rumbled.
