Will the drug industry come up with an effective flu cure, and will the NHS buy it?

I'm not given to exaggeration or hypochondria, but the flu bout I suffered last winter was the worst in recorded medical history. As tearful relatives gathered round my sick-bed (sick-sofa, actually - easier for the TV in my less delirious moments), the helpless quacks shook their heads and murmured softly: 'There's nothing more we can do.'
