Donna Hanna created, financed and implemented an initiative to improve quality of life for patients after myocardial infarction. She talked to Julie McCaughan about the work which won her the Nursing Standard Nurse 98 general medical nursing award, sponsored by LPNS nursing service

In 1995 staff nurse Donna Hanna had a vision. She knew research showed that patients were terrified when they were released from hospital following a heart atack and envisaged a service which would support them through this traumatic time.
