Genomics plays a part in many aspects of healthcare and is used to guide a range of health-related decisions – as such, nurses are expected to have some knowledge of it. NHS England’s Genomics Education Programme describes the field as the study of an organism’s entire genetic material, which for humans is made up of DNA.
